Astrology: more than the signs

For thousands of years, astrology has been lurking in the shadows of our consciousness. Shrouded in mystery and chaos, the study of astrology has thus far only hinted at its true gift to humanity. MORE

Uranus in Aries
Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose

Uranus means revolution, the sudden outburst of new ideas wiping out traditional restrictions and outmoded systems. The power of Uranus is the lightning bolt of inspiration, revelation and the unstoppable spread of a human demand for freedom. The question is, freedom for whom? The freedom for a few is not comparable with the freedom for the many. Is individual freedom really freedom? Or it it the height of selfishness? There is no real freedom until we are all free. This is at the the core of democracy. MORE

Retrograde Roundup

Sometimes you just have to take it slow

So what can you say about a transit report that has five retrograde planets—soon to be six? Watch out? Slow down? Stand in place? Be humble? Don’t take anything for granted? Check your oil? Take your vitamins? It's more than a cautionary advice; it's a chance to look back and see the problem.

This period, which will run through the end of the year, give or take a planet or two, will illustrate exactly how connected we are to the ambient forces of the Universe. It's a pause, a breather, a warning, a break in the action. We are supposed to take stock of the situation and wait until a better moment to proceed, and correct what is wrong. If our lives are like walking a tightrope, then stopping and regaining our composure in this retrograde is a better strategy than pushing forward when we are off balance.

Ophiuchus and Christianity
Rising up out of the destruction

By Natalie Miller

In my heart, Ophiuchus, in all her shining glory, has replaced Jesus Christ and the miracle of his birth. What Ophiuchus represents is inner growth mirrored in our surroundings. What we conjure up in our personal relationship and communications with Ophiuchus WILL be made manifest. So we either walk in fields of gold with her, or strip her down to a nightmare and dance around like Jack Skellington. MORE

The Age of Austerity

Anti-austerity protest in Ireland

The most active political force in the world today is austerity. Brought about by privatization and profit-taking, the crisis of capitalism and its agonizing effects on society are being transferred to the working class, destroying the social contract and reducing vast numbers of people into pauperism. The ruling class hopes to avoid the cataclysmic boomerang effect of its concentration of wealth by spreading the misery to the masses of people, little by little, in small increments of pain. The survival of capitalism depends the elimination of the need for workers, and their demotion to wage slavery. What happened to the much-vaulted promise of an ever-rising sea of prosperity that elevates the worker into middle-class status? That was a ruse to get us invested in the fortunes of the billionaires. Our new heroes, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Tesla's Elon Musk, have been thrust upon us as saviors, as the system grinds their potential customers into dust. They, like the fake prosperity that they represent, are mirages of a system with no foundation, no future.

Our new demi-gods from the parasite class

Do the stars reflect the reality of our plight? The stars do not care whether or not we are rich or poor, they just show us the prevailing winds of change. As part of the swirling galaxy that surrounds us, we absorb the influence of its machinations in the same way that we are liable to the cross-currents of weather systems on Earth. We cannot alter the reality, only abide by it and make local the changes to our societies that will help us survive it. In the study of the stars, we can use our prior knowledge of the universal flux to help us cope with its aftermath. MORE

Trump and the Moon:
his own worst enemy

Retrograde Saturn is taking another swipe at the Trump Magic

Donald Trump's Moon Problems

The last time Saturn stepped on Donald Trump's Moon was less than two weeks before his dreary and demoralizing inaugural. He was humiliated, caught with his pants down as he tried to exaggerate his crowd numbers. Meanwhile, the Women's march drew millions nationwide. This was the first of many gaffes, and his administration got off to a rocky start. During the term of Saturn's transit of his natal Moon, his Mexican wall, anti-Islamic immigration bills, and the repeal of Obamacare were are squashed. Moreover, his cabinet was trashed by a media broadside and a relentless meme ridicule. The "resistance" to his presidency was in full swing. He had to crawl back under the protection of the Republican party he almost destroyed in the primaries leading up to the 2016 election. MORE

"Welcome to Hell"
The T-square with Jupiter

Cerberus, the 3-headed dog that guards the gates of hell; a symbol of a Pluto-Mars opposition about to pounce on Jupiter. Can "lucky" Jupiter get past them?

This month we'll be observing a disoriented Virgo Jupiter being attacked by the savage dogs, in a planetary clash of planets that makes anger and frustration an everyday thing! This Pluto-Mars opposition may shatter our complacency, or fill us with terror; your choice. Pluto-Mars-Jupter is a cruel T-square that with retrograde planets, which means we'll be working backwards to unearth old battles, with hardened positions. This is the type of cosmic formation that can really reach down as touch us! It started on June 22, and its activity will continue until a slow fade begins in mid-August. MORE

Is Bad Astrology Harmful?

How pernicious is a bad oracle? Susan Miller, pictured above, is the number one celebrity astrologer in America. She provides a comprehensive monthly report for all 12 tropical signs. Her appealing combination of chatty tidbits of astrological lore and conventional wisdom has millions of readers. Yes, it's all based on the wrong signs, but who cares? Is there any harm in Miller making her audience feel better, using whatever message she can? At some point you have to weigh the value of her air-brushed advice against how easy it goes down. Bad astrology is still bad advice. MORE

June 4: A Symbolic Day
or a day full of symbols

Astrology is a system rich in symbols. Early humans created them to remember events that made a deep and lasting impression on them. Considering how dedicated they were to pass them on for posterity, we would be foolish indeed to ignore them. The chart above, drawn for June 4, 2017, 12 noon, EST, tells its story at a glance. Chaos. Fireworks. Starburst. The symbols are making us a pictograph. Planets and stars striking esoteric angles with each other, as if communicating, or murmurating among themselves. No wonder they were once considered gods!

This chart is like a ring of electrical energy, surrounding a maze of strife and tumult. Is this some build-up or release of energy? The Astrologer will see several particular symbolic formations formed by the trines (in blue), the squares (in red) and the sextiles (in light blue). At the center of the storm of aspects, regulated by degree, is the opposition, the symbol of polarity. The Saturn-Mars opposition can only mean the extremes of coercion and rash behavior. MORE

The May Yod
Two possible outcomes

Squares are just challenges, oppositions are just radical change, even trines do nothing more then accelerate our destiny. Conjunctions bring these things to a head, a war inside ourselves to find the best path forward. One astrological configuration that we don't often talk about is the Yod. Named by the ancients as the "finger of god", the Yod is our final warning before the shitstorm. A classical interpretation is the idea of pent-up forces being let loose, like the stretched bow releasing its arrow. Many astrologers call the Yod a runaway train.

A Positive Outcome

Such a Yod is upcoming in early May. It amounts to an attack on Jupiter. The Yod, shown below in red, combines the forces of the Sun in Aries and Neptune in Aquarius to send a an already back-tracking Jupiter in Virgo into full retreat. Aries the general, combines with Neptune the visionary, to throw the law-and-order Jupiter into anarchy. This may foretell a summer of violence in the streets, a breakdown in the accepted social norms. Some co-ordinated action is called for in the struggle against a system that has failed. Perhaps we will see the birth of a new type of leadership, both militant and egalitarian, one that runs counter to the doddering old fools in government who are trying to hold the line against change. (However fraught with peril, this is the GOOD possibility of the Yod, suggesting that we will heed the dangers that lie ahead and take action to confront and solve them. (A much worse scenario is also possible, as described later in this article.) MORE

The Shitstorm

When you step in dogshit, it's just one minor humiliation. You have to scrape it off your shoe and hope you don't reek of shit the rest of the day. It's like you are walking in a minefield. You weren't vigilant. You are chagrined at your own clumsiness. It's as if fate made a pile of shit with your name on it. However, this is a small distraction compared to the larger threat. What happens when the shit isn't just at foot-level, where it is avoidable? What happens when it's a shitstorm, when the problem comes from above, and there is no escape? In this instance, everybody gets covered in shit. It's not just you. Everybody runs for cover. Your shoes are the least of your problems. It rains shit. Everybody stinks.

The economy is like that. Right now, it's all a question of where you walk, or where you are. There are piles of crap everywhere, nobody is cleaning them up, so it means you can lose your job or your house, through your own mistakes or maybe you just draw a bad card from the economic poker game deck. Why you? Who knows, you're a loser. Your expectations are lowered, and it's your fault. Maybe you stepped blindly into a get-poor-quick Ponzi scheme, or fell into poor health. It doesn't matter; you stink. You're alone with your shame. MORE

Make America Great Again!

A Gut-wrenching T-Square

Starting Feb 19, and continuing until Feb 28, we'll all be experiencing a tumultuous and dangerous T-square with Jupiter (retrograde), Uranus and Pluto. Around Feb 28, Mars will be added to the mix, as conjunct Uranus, which will hit us even harder, making the changes we face come at us like a roaring beast. We didn't notice the warning signs of this gradual but inevitable predicament.

The impact of this combination of planets can mean a lot of disruption, duplicity, loss, coercion, and failure of the institutions that we depend on, such as corporations and joint finances, taxes, insurance, inheritance and the goods of the dead. One way of looking at it is that we have overvalued the dependability of these institutions, and are now trapped in a sudden realization of the weakness or perfidy of government, religious or spiritually-based groups, social and family organizations and even friendships. Even astrology and other "occult" belief systems will fall into disrepute, since any means of self-aggrandization or over confidence is very dangerous in this T-square.

Jupiter, our protector, is not only going back to nitpick the details of our belief systems, but is also tangled in a web of deceit and power-plays. Jupiter's otherwise lucky aspects are doomed to be dragged into a pit of arrogance and neglect of important details, which could result in pain and violence. Jupiter can't always save us, especially from ourselves.

All of these failures of our most trusted institutions will come at us in a rage of sudden disappointments. We'll be beset by the irrevocable destruction of the old conditions we are used to. We may be exposed to dangerous and or perilous circumstances, disruption of our normal living conditions, whether by economic, political, cultural and ecological forces beyond our control. Entrenched corporate or other power structures will bear down on us with a ferocity that we didn't expect. This will cause us to vault into a desire to drastically change our basic goals and objectives. However, this is not a good time for positive change. we simply aren't ready or prepared; we haven't laid any groundwork for meaningful reform, and we will be forced to endure and submit to the changes, or, hopefully adjust to them for the short term. Like a wounded animal, we'll suffer drastic emotional upsets caused by the threats to our basic needs; security, money, sex, and our quality of life, unable to find a way out. Shock and despair are natural reactions to the collapse of everything we hold dear.

Like most T-squares, the danger is what we will do to ourselves. Pluto is like the dagger we plunge unto our own gut, in a fit of fury that we will turn inwards. Why wait until the forces against us hit? In our anguish, we might ruin our chances to reorganize and place ourselves in untenable positions from which there is no escape.

When we face oppressive forces out to destroy us, we must downsize, and shrink our area of activities to only what we need. There is only one way out: strict and consistent HONESTY in all our affairs. Rather than be fooled into action before we are ready, we must find the truth of our predicament, face our own follies and fantasies, and scrupulously eliminate all hypocrisy from our lives. Yes, we are challenged to change, real change, which can only come as a result of a great realization of our options, and starkly looking at the sacrifices we must make. Only a radical departure from the old ways of thinking can save us. Yet we are helpless to act on our newly forming consciousness. We must wait for the storm to pass over, before we can repair the damage to ourselves and take action against our real enemies, who have finally been revealed to us.

On February 6, Jupiter in Virgo goes retrograde. This will signal a sudden reverse in the false spirit of optimism in the US economy. This delusion is based on a Trump victory and a tax cut for the rich, a rising stock market and the further inflation of worthless paper assets and bad debts. China, the last best hope of the capitalist wet dream, is sinking further in chaos, with crashing exports, massive unemployment, devastating pollution, and pervasive corruption. This is causing a deep sense of doom in the Chinese people as a whole. They've hit a major block to their dreams of expansion and the glories of capitalism. The Yuan is sinking so fast that all the gold in China can't prop it up any more. The Chinese are racing to try to convert their money into other currencies, and bitcoin. Japan, India, Brazil, England and most European and South American counties are all suffering similar currency implosion. Anyone with dollar-based debt is like a cornered rat. There really isn't anywhere to hide, and the specter of deflation is haunting all countries that have allowed a deregulated capitalism to sweep through their economies like a forest fire. The reality of deflation will now reveal itself to be the major economic trend of our era. It's like quicksand, and it swallows wealth wherever it finds it. The more you own, the more debt you are carrying, the more acute the danger.

This is a major shift in economics, but also in our perception, and way of life. Deflation throws us into the opposite extreme of what we are used to, inflation.

Since World War two, Americans have been living in the capitalist dream state of inflation. Our wealth, goods and power was increased and been exaggerated, and then leveraged for more than it was worth, as we artificially jacked up the market value of increasingly overvalued assets, goods and services. Today, a one-bedroom condo in Brooklyn can cost millions of dollars; a Modigliani painting can sell for $250 million; a taxi company can be valued at $60 billion; the list goes on. This causes a trickle down effect, not of wealth, but of more delusion. Americans accept the roller coaster ride and scramble for more money, more liquidity, more credit. But money is scarce, spendable income is down, growth is negative, monopoly has run its course. The halcyon days of capitalism are gone in the flames of wretched excess, waste and retribution.

Inflation has worked (for us) for 75 years, as long as you consumed everything you could, the government printed more money, war burned up surplus capital, and in the end, we impoverished the rest of the world. The true cost of capitalism was deferred; as long as the rich could inflate the value of everything they owned, everything was OK. We were betting that inflation would last forever.

That is no longer possible. The corporations have reached the end of their tether. No regime or government in history has ever survived defeat in war and deflation of the currency. The capitalists have turned over-production, abundance and concentration of capital into a nightmare for all humanity, and a threat to our very existence. Once deflation (which is the underestimation of previously overestimated wealth) kicks in, profits are impossible, growth reverses itself into decay. The capitalist juggernaut shifts gear into self-destruction. This is the final stage of capitalism, moribund. The dying stage.

The last Great Depression of 1929-39 was solved with the government borrowing from the millionaires who were responsible for poverty, war, taxation, and the creation of a military-industrial-financial complex. It was a temporary fix, driving the government into an even more precarious and subordinate position as the tool of world capitalism and the global corporations.

But the worm turns. In 1987 Americans experienced a shock to its economic underpinnings. The savings and loan banks, at the heart of our wealth creation, collapsed in corruption and bad loans. The government took another giant step into the cycle of crushing and unpayable debt, without addressing the root causes. The commercial banks just swallowed up the problem, making huge profits. However, their waterloo came with the crash of 2008. This bank debacle was smoothed over with a burst of $1.8 trillion "fictitious" money from the Fed. The cost was financed by Japan, China and the "developing" nations. Again, the problem was ignored and the capitalists turned it into another way to gouge new profits out of a dying cash cow.

What enabled the capitalists to get away with it was the American military juggernaut, the hollow specter of American imperialism, the shower of blood, bombs and bullets we spread over everything we touched. Bush and Obama's war-mongering staved off a day of reckoning with $15 trillion of military expenditures. However, now the US military has reached the Rubicon. They face a growing resistance, and Russia has become a major obstacle to their aims of world domination. Now the US military faces imminent and certain defeat in their many wars of aggression, as well as their proxy wars.

The US military, now out of political control, is starting new wars in Yemen, Somalia, and in the former Soviet states like Ukraine, Lithuania and Georgia. NATO is trying to extend its imperialistic grasp into Poland. But all these ventures will fail. The era of American exceptionalism (their word for imperialism) is over. Now it's just a question of when.

Between the humiliation and economic catastrophe of losing the wars that several US administrations have nurtured for so long, members of the American military are committing suicide in record numbers, and demoralized beyond the point of no return. We have reached the furthest crest of American power. Unless the capitalists decide to destroy the world in a nuclear holocaust, the backlash against US imperialism will drive it back into a death spiral.

War+inflation has been GREAT for capitalism, a win-win for capitalists. However, the new dispensation of war+deflation cannot sustain itself. When this occurs, capitalists become cannibals and turn upon each other like savage dogs. It's only a matter of time. Jupiter will stay in retrograde until June 6, dragging us back to face the toxins we have ingested and deal with the never ending chaotic crisis of our era. We won't be out of the shadow until September 6. Stay tuned.

On July 31, Uranus went retrograde, with an apparent motion from 32 to 28 degrees Pisces before it goes direct at the end of 2016. This is a repeat performance of 2015, when Uranus went from 29 to 24 degrees Pisces during July-December of that year. All in all, it must be admitted, Uranus in Pisces wants peace, but in retrograde, seems only to get more violence!

Uranus in Pisces has been called the Jesus syndrome, when new ideas, from Christian ethics to socialist economics, emerge to create a more humanistic society based on love. In Pisces, Uranus is weaponless, so these new, revolutionary ideas are subject to repression and their adherents, to martyrdom. In retrograde, Uranus is retreating from confrontation, shirking the pain. Uranus retrograde is hung up on past hurts, and historical injustice. Freedom is still out of reach, in spite of the fact the first inkling of a new, kinder and more humane philosophy is on the rise, at least among those who have the higher consciousness. But what good does consciousness do when faced with an AK-15 assault rifle?

The Bust.

What is the problem with real estate? With oil? With consumer sales? With stocks and bonds, with the dollar? It's the downside of abundance: supply is greater than demand, and deflation is the result. This is the worst scenario of all for capitalism, the end of growth. When deflation happens, ownership becomes onerous. The business owner, equity owner, homeowner, or any owner gets undercut. Ownership is a weeping wound, Ownership is like being caught with the hot potato. MORE ON DEFLATION

Lilith is described in legend as the original woman, before Eve she was first and was conceived by the creator to exist in love and equality with the original man. Her self respect was intact but according to legend her heartbreak at the injustice of this has burned throughout the ages. MORE

Like a creeping disease, deflation is the specter of destruction haunting the capitalist system. It's contagious; it's jumping from one nation to another like an STD. Oil producing nations have it. It's working its way through Europe like a new black plague; Japan has had it for 10 years, and now China has it.
